A small fish and chip shop in Scotland’s Shetland Isles has been picked as the winner of the National Fish & Chip Awards for 2015.
Frankie’s Fish & Chips is situated in the Brae and is classed as the most northerly fish and chip shop in Britain, however, this remote location doesn’t stop them getting their hands on fresh hauls of sustainabliy sourced fish.
Valerie Johnson, who owns the shop, said: ““We now get to go home to Shetland and say that our fish and chips are the best in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales – without exception. How amazing is that. This is the highlight of my working life.”
The second place spot went to Simpsons Fish & Chips in Cheltenham and Papa’s Barn in Kent was award third place. Best Newcomer award went to Shap Chippy in Cumbria and Burton Road Chippy in Lincoln was picked as the Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year.
